heron chair

this heron chair by an australian designer named Charles Wilson is the first nice piece of furniture i've seen in about 4 months. yay. i mean it's not exactly a contemporily styled piece of furniture, the shape of the seat is pure 60's, and the apparent vinyl finish and colouring definitely has a 50's flair. that metal base which is almost utilitarian , but then it has that craning forward to support the seat, giving it a motive force thats balanced by the low long back.
it looks like it's crying out for a set of castors, so it can be used in some inner city loft office interior design firm

we have lost the first of the ebb

"We have lost the first of the ebb," said the Director suddenly.
I raised my head. The offing was barred by a black bank of clouds, and the tranquil waterway leading to the uttermost ends of the earth flowed sombre under an overcast sky — seemed to lead into the heart of an immense darkness.
-- Joseph Conrad

i read some books, Heart of Darkness, by Conrad, and 'for whom the bell tolls' by Hemingway. i enjoyed them both. i'd love to be able to write like Conrad

things i am working on

i need to go make some moulds from plaster or something, i think i need to cast the pendants from resin, the 1mm polyprop is to time consuming to cut, and i think it would look better in a more aerofoil shaped form

i think i drew this on the tubes. i found it on my floor, i'm cleaning my room, it's going in the bin now, i don't really need a map of the london underground right now
